For over 14 years, Anna Ivara has led cultural, spiritual retreats to Bali, Irian Jaya, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, and Java. Her travels inspired her to study anthropology, ethnography and documentary filmmaking. She is a psycho-spiritual teacher who works with individuals as well as groups. A former Resident Artist of the Dallas Theater Center in Texas and of Theater West in Los Angeles, Anna has directed plays and videos for various New York City companies including the Bull Family Orchestra (Caterpillar Crossing), ATA (Something She Ate) and Symphony Space (Operaworks). Her stage mentors include Burgess Meredith and Jean Erdman. Anna studied film at NYU and earned a Masters in Media Studies from the New School University. Since its inception, she has been involved with the directorial and structural development, and productions of the one man Off Broadway show, Work = Pain = Success. Anna is a member of NYWIFT and DocuClub.
